Yushikan is a small private dojo, we serve as the Pan-American Headquarters for the International Gojuryu Karate Association and we are an officially sanctioned and recognized member of the Okinawan Gojuryu Karate-do Kyokai and Sekai Dentokan Bugei Renmei.

Our objectives and activities focus on the preservation and practice of Traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate according to the teachings of the founder, Master Chojun Miyagi, and as passed on by his students Eiichi Miyazato Sensei and Koshin Iha Sensei.

Our curriculum also includes Okinawan Kobujutsu, a traditional form of Okinawan weaponry, that utilizes several ancient weapons, such as the Sai, Tonfa, Kama, Bo, Nunchaku, Techu, Tekko, Eiku, Yara, and the Tenbi'Rochin.

Our group is overseen C. Michial Jones, Kyoshi. Jones-Sensei has a wealth of experience in Karate, Kobujutsu, Jujutsu and Law Enforcment Defensive Tactics and we are fortunate to have him as the chief instructor of the Yushikan.

We strive to maintain a non-competitive, friendly environment that is welcoming to people from all walks of life. Although the techniques we practice can result in injury if unnecessary force is applied, we believe in avoiding injury by training at a pace and intensity that students are comfortable with. As a result, we refuse to train with or admit any person whose ego or lack of empathy may result in injuries. Yushikan is sanctioned by and our ranking is registered with the Sekai Dentokan Bugei Renmei, the International Gojuryu Karate Association and the Okinawa Gojuryu Association in Okinawa, Japan.
